"I Want You for the U.S. Army Nearst Recuriting Station" is a historic U.S. Army recruiting poster, one of the most famous of its kind. First printed in 1917 and 1918, as the United States entered World War I, then due to its overwhelming popularity, the poster with the iconic image of "Uncle Sam" was later adapted for use in World War II. Artist James Montgomery Flagg had been his own model for Unlce Sam's likeness on the poster to save the modeling fee.

Uncle Sam is one of the most popular personifications of the United States. However, the term "Uncle Sam" is of somewhat obscure origin. Historical sources attach the name to a meat packer who supplied meat to the U.S. Army during the War of 1812 - Samuel (Uncle Sam) Wilson. Wilson's fairness, reliability, honesty, and devotion to his country are the qualities now associated with "our" Uncle Sam.

Poster is 23-in x 35-in and is individually sleeved.
