American graphic artist J. Howard Miller helped forge women's rights from factory steel during WWII when he was hired to create a series of posters to support the war effort, the most iconic being the Rosie the Riveter "We Can Do It!" Poster. Replacing men who had gone off to war, six million women began working at manufacturing plants. In 1992, this image appeared as a U.S. postage stamp, part of a WWII Stamp Series.
