"My Gal Sal" Graphic T-Shirt

“My Gal Sal” was one of the first of thousands of B-17s to fly the treacherous northern air route from the United States to England. On 27 June 1942, horrendous weather conditions forced this early “E” model B-17 to make an emergency landing on a Greenland ice cap. The entire crew survived the 10-day ordeal by getting the aircraft’s radio into operation again and transmitting an SOS, which resulted in their rescue. The plane remained on the ice for more than fifty years before being recovered and restored.

    Had to have this shirt since my uncle was a crew member when My Gal Sal crashed in Greenland. Museum store didnt have my size, so had to order online. Got one for my Dad too. Nice shirt.

    My great uncle died when his B-17 was shot down over Yugoslavia, and I have always felt a connection, as well as a fascination with World War II aviation, particularly the Flying Fortress. I bought this shirt several years ago when I was able to get down to New Orleans to visit the WWII Museum, and its been my favorite t-shirt ever since; it has finally started to fade a bit after probably 100 wearings and washings, so I bought another one. Its a great shirt, quality fabric and printing. I love it.
