Description
P51 Mustang 4.5in InAir Diecast Model
Developed by North American Aviation (NAA), the P-51 Mustang was an American long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II by British and American forces. Mainly used in the European Theater of Operations as a weapon against the Luftwaffe, the P-51 Mustang didn't enter the Pacific Theater of Operations until the final months of the war.
The P-51 with a red tail is associated with the 332nd Fighter Group, the Tuskegee Airmen, a well known group of African-American fighter pilots who served in WWII. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American aviators in the United States military. Facing discrimination outside and even within the military, these airmen, despite the segregation, fought with great distinction and made their P-51 "Red Tails" as well-known as themselves.
