1st Cavalry Division Patch
One of the most decorated combat units in U.S. military history, the 1st Cavalry Division was formed in 1921. The symbolism in the patch speaks to the unit's history. The horse head and the yellow color(the traditional color of cavalry) refer to its original structure. The black color represents iron and the switch to tanks and machinery. 1st Cav has been engaged in many U.S. military campaigns, including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, the Global War on Terrorism, and Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
