Love this hat!
This has become my favorite hat! I’m a retired USAF fighter crew chief and this symbol was the USAF symbol when I joined, not just the USAAF emblem. The current symbol didn’t become the official symbol until 2004, when I had already served 7 of my 24 years of service. IMHO, the current symbol sucks and reflects none of the USAF/USAAF/USAAC heritage. The symbol on this hat, however, is awesome, colorful, and reflects all of the history of air power in the USA. The new symbol looks like a bizarre can-opener to me. The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because I’ve had mine for about two years and, having worn it regularly, the material holds up well except for my sweat discoloring it. The symbol still looks great, but the black around it is yellowy-orange when patches of faded black all over because of my sweating in it. A better dye in the material would prevent that discoloration. Or, even better, offer it in other colors, like tan/beige, blue, and red. Maybe other colors would look good too, but those three, plus the original black, look best to me. Overall, great hat, just need a better supplier or for the supplier to use better dyes for the material. I’d pay more for better quality, for sure.
