Description
InAir Legends of Flight B-24 Liberator
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was used by every branch of the United States military during WWII as well as other Allied forces. Although the B-24 was faster, could carry more, and had a greater range than the B-17 Flying Fortress, it was more difficult to fly, and due to the placement of the fuel tanks it had a tendency to catch fire.
Despite this, the Liberator is the most-produced American military aircraft in history with over 18,400 units. Its success in WWII was thanks to its high payload and its long range.
Make sure to visit The National WWII Museum's very own B-24 Liberator fuselage located in our gorgeous Boeing Center at our campus in New Orleans, LA!
