The most famous of the Japanese aircraft used in WWII, the Mitsubishi A6M Zero combined excellent maneuverability with very long range. When introduced in 1940, it was considered the most capable carrier-based fighter in the world.
Even after Allied fighter technology surpassed the Zero, the Japanese still found ways to inflict maximum damage with it, using them in the famous kamikaze missions at the end of the Pacific campaign.
