The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was a World War II American fighter aircraft that was mainly successful in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Before the mass shipment of P-51D Mustangs toward the end of the war, the P-38 Lightning was the choice fighter aircraft, used by the military's top aces.
The P-38 had several uses, including dive bombing, level bombing, ground-attack, night fighting, photoreconnaissance missions, and extensively as a long-range escort fighter when equipped with drop tanks under its wings.
Includes 1:60 scale die-cast WWII aircraft from the Smithsonian Collection, display stand and collector's card.

It would be better if this model were the same scale, 1:48, as the other models of fighter planes.

It is one of my favorite fighter planes from WW II. It was instrumental in shooting down Admiral Yamamoto in 1942. The replica is faithful in every detail!
