Description
This baseball cap features the aircraft roundel of the Army Air Corps. The United States Air Force did not come about until the National Security Act of 1947. Before that and during WWII, the Air Corps, as it was called, was a part of the United States Army.
The U.S. aircraft roundel has changed many times. This roundel was used until shortly after Pearl Harbor when officials realized the red dot in the center could be confused with the red dot on the Japanese flag (referred to as the "meatball" by Allied personnel). In May 1942 the red dot was eliminated, leaving only a white star inside a blue circle. Any planes in service at the time painted over the red dots with white paint.
100% brushed cotton twill cap. Felt applique' logo with direct embroidery.

Hat is OK
Cost is too high. My dad and uncle were USAA WW2 I would like to give my sibs and cousins as gifts, but alas too $$$

This is a nice quality hat that we got for my son who is a WW2 fan. My husband saw the hat and said he would definitely wear it also.

Usaac star rounder cap
Previous reviews describe the product accurately. Just received my second. Still wearing my original weather beaten purchase. Durable and good quality. Chose the color as my Army branch was armor. My dad served in the USAAC in WW II. I flew helicopters in Vietnam.

It is a nice cap. Nothing to complain about there. I gave this item a 4 simply because the look of the Army Air Corps/Forces looks a bit odd and maybe too primitive in sewing, but I suppose that adds to the nostalgic look of the item. Nothing to shed tears over !
