United States Army Air Corps Roundel Hat

This baseball cap features the aircraft roundel of the Army Air Corps. The United States Air Force did not come about until the National Security Act of 1947. Before that and during WWII, the Air Corps, as it was called, was a part of the United States Army.

The U.S. aircraft roundel has changed many times. This roundel was used until shortly after Pearl Harbor when officials realized the red dot in the center could be confused with the red dot on the Japanese flag (referred to as the "meatball" by Allied personnel). In May 1942 the red dot was eliminated, leaving only a white star inside a blue circle. Any planes in service at the time painted over the red dots with white paint.

100% brushed cotton twill cap. Felt applique' logo with direct embroidery.

I was a little dissapointed in the caps when Ireceived them. The quality was not the same as the first cap I bought several years ago RED CANONE this cap is very thin. And it is not the brush cotton style like the ones your orginally had. I saw the orginal one on the REDCANOE.com site.

I would buy a ton of stuff but most “Made in China”.

Made in China Gift Store. The irony of all you represent is overwhelming and VERY disappointing!

*Thank you for your feedback! We recommend shopping our Made in USA category found under More for our current selection of Made in the USA items.

Looks Great and Tells a Story

Posted by Walter on Aug 15th 2020

I was a little hesitant to buy this hat since the color is unusual and the patch is obscure to folks who are not WWII buffs. It looks great, and has drawn a lot of questions about the patch which has allowed me to tell its story. The meatball is especially unique.

    USAAC Star Roundel Cap

This hat is OK but not the same quality it used to be. I purchased this hat years ago on a trip to New Orleans. It was worn. A LOT and finally needed to be replaced. On the website, it looks the same but the manufacturer wasnt mentioned. After getting the hat I found that it was made in China, and the previous hat was made in Canada. The previous version fit better and was better quality. If the manufacturer was mentioned I wouldnt have purchased it.

    WWII Hats

I liked the quality of the hats. I collect hats from various military organizations and I would say these hats are among the better ones I have received.
